Description
Solutions Architect
Career Opportunity
Here's the corporate dribble HR made us put at the top: Acro Commerce is looking for a Solutions Architect to drive architectural excellence, oversee complex e-commerce solutions, and guide our technical teams.
That's done. Now here's what we really want. A seasoned technical leader. Someone who's been around the block, built complex systems, and knows that simplifying the complicated is the whole game. You build real confidence with clients and developers alike, in virtual meetings, over Slack, and in person. You help manufacturers and brands by finding the architectural bottlenecks they didn't know they had and delivering the decoupled solutions that unlock their systems' true potential.
You also know yourself. You can tell when you're over-engineering a solution and you scale it back. You can walk us through an architecture that crashed and burned, and what you got wrong, without flinching. That kind of honesty and lack of ego is how you got good in the first place.
What You’ll Do
As the Solutions Architect, you’ll shape technical direction across client projects, guide teams through complexity, and help manufacturers, distributors, and brands unlock what their systems are truly capable of.
Architecture & Delivery
- Design and oversee decoupled and composable architectures connecting ERP, CMS, and commerce layers
- Provide technical oversight for solution design, architecture documentation, and implementation quality
- Review deliverables and guide developers to ensure performance, scalability, and maintainability
Sales & Discovery
- Lead technical discovery sessions, mapping client requirements to platform capabilities
- Collaborate with Sales and Project Managers to define technical scopes, estimate effort, and craft proposals
- Act as a trusted technical advisor during pre-sales conversations
Innovation & Mentorship
- Mentor Developers and Tech Leads; raise the bar on technical design and cross-system thinking
- Drive R&D efforts in modern architecture (APIs, microservices, AI data layers, and automation)
- Serve as a subject-matter expert for our Production, Sales, and Marketing teams, as well as the top technical escalation point for business units
What You Bring
- We’re less concerned with degrees and more with what you can actually build. You should be comfortable making architectural decisions, writing solid code, and explaining your thinking to both developers and business leaders.
- Proven, hands-on experience integrating and working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
- Deep experience in web architecture and integration (CMS, PIM, and e-commerce platforms)
- Strong proficiency in PHP, React, JavaScript/jQuery, SQL, CSS3/HTML5
- Experience with Drupal, API-first systems, and decoupled frontends
- Linux shell skills; basic server configuration understanding
- Source control experience (Git, GitHub, etc.)
- Curiosity about emerging tech, from composable architectures to AI-driven customer experiences
- If you’ve built something complex and can show it, we want to see it.
All offers of employment with Acro Commerce are contingent on successfully completing a criminal background check.
What We Bring
- Ownership and impact. We want seasoned technical leaders, and we treat you like one. You own the technical vision and architecture, working alongside Project teams who handle the timelines and details, so you can stay focused on solving the hard problems and mentoring the team. Your compensation package gets tailored to your architectural experience, your track record, and your fit with our values, with hourly rates starting between $75 and $95 CAD.
- Autonomy over your schedule. Flex start times, earned days off, and real remote work. Prefer to start at 8:00? 9:00? We'll work with you. Want every second Friday off? We've got a program for that. Work from your home office or from our Kelowna HQ, your call. (Some client contracts require staff to be located in Canada, so most positions need you to be legally able to work here.)
- Professional development: We might live and breathe software development, but we are also really passionate about our team's personal development, too. We love to learn and are always striving to be the best version of ourselves; whether it's training on the latest technology or learning how to become a better delegator, we will help you improve your skills and hit your goals.
- Culture: We’re a certain type of people. We’re all a little different and unique in our own way, but we seem to work well together. No one’s perfect, and we embrace that. We take our work seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Check out our site to get to know us! Feel free to dissect what and how we do what we do.
All careers come with a 30-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. If you are in any way unsatisfied with your career, we will return you to the workforce at absolutely NO COST to you (minus shipping and handling).
